        Motors bidding policy

Cars and other motor vehicles are typically high-value items, so we have some additional guidelines in place to make these transactions go smoothly and to protect our buyers and sellers.

Bidding on motor vehicles is non-binding and is slightly different from bidding on other items. When you place a bid in this category, you're consenting to sharing your contact details with the seller, who can get in touch with you directly to discuss the sale.

As an eBay Motors seller, you're bound by the terms of our User Privacy Notice to regarding the use of personal information you receive from eBay and can only use a bidder's information to contact them about the vehicle they bid on, or similar vehicles you have available for sale.

        Deposits for Secure Purchase

For listings eligible for Secure Purchase, buyers bidding on motor vehicle auctions are required to provide payment details when they place a bid and agree to pay the predetermined deposit amount if they win the auction. Buyers will be reminded of this requirement throughout the bidding process. The deposit amount will be charged immediately when the winning bid is determined.

When an eBay Motor vehicle seller accepts an offer, the vehicle isn't committed to that buyer until the buyer pays the required deposit through eBay checkout. Sellers can accept multiple offers at the same time. The first buyer to complete the deposit payment secures the vehicle and proceeds with Secure Purchase. If a buyer doesn't pay the deposit, the listing remains active and available to other buyers.

Deposits for vehicle transactions will be held until both the buyer and seller complete Secure Purchase. Once both the buyer and seller have completed Secure Purchase, the buyer’s deposit will be available in the seller's spendable funds and eligible for payout.
