What coverage does Tracfone use?

Tracfone offers service on most major wireless networks in the USA. Network selection should be based upon your coverage preference and the phone model that you plan to use. Check coverage and device compatibility at tracfone.com

What you need to bring

An AT&T-compatible, T-Mobile compatible, unlocked GSM, Verizon LTE-compatible or other unlocked LTE CDMA Device to use with our service. Our service will work with nearly any unlocked, GSM or CDMA device as long as your wireless contract has ended and your account is in good standing with your previous carrier (e.g., current on payments, etc.).

How to activate your Tracfone plan

Please be sure to use a Tracfone SIM card that you receive in your Starter Kit, rather than a SIM that you may have obtained elsewhere, in order to avoid any activation issues.

After you receive your Starter Kit and Airtime Activation Pin by mail, please activate your phone at tracfone.com.
  • Step 1: Select what type of phone model you have, GSM or CDMA. (Tip: If your phone is AT&T- or T-Mobile compatible, it is GSM. If your phone is Verizon-compatible, it is CDMA.)
  • Step 2: Select the corresponding SIM Card # which matches your phone model found on the Starter Kit Packaging (Blue = AT&T-compatible, Pink = T-Mobile-compatible, Red = Verizon LTE-compatible)
  • Step 3: Enter the SIM Card # found on the Starter Kit Packaging
  • Step 4: Select “Yes” if you will be bringing an existing phone number to use with your Tracfone plan or select “No” to get a new phone number
  • Step 5: Enter the zip code of where you will use your phone the most
  • Step 6: Enter Service Plan PIN (PIN shipped with SIM Starter Kit)
  • Step 7: Fill in your personal account information
  • Step 8: Review and agree to the Tracfone terms and conditions and submit

Activation Instructions

Insert the new SIM card into your phone.
  1. Turn your phone OFF and back ON
  2. Make a call
    • If the call does not connect, wait a few minutes to reboot your phone and try again
  3. Update your data settings:
    • Once your phone is active, you may receive a text message to update your data settings. If you do not receive a text and your data does not work, you can update the settings by texting APN to 611611. Or, go to tracfone.com > HELP > Update Data Settings.

Porting

Want to bring your pre-existing number over to Tracfone? Not a problem!

You can bring your number over to Tracfone from most US carriers and mobile operators. Mobile operators include, but are not limited to, Boost Mobile, Cricket, Virgin Mobile, and more.

It is important to be 100% accurate with your porting information, including the account number (which is usually not your phone number) and account password, both of which may be obtained from your old service provider. If incorrect information is submitted, it can provide serious delay to the transfer. In some cases, delays may also be from your previous wireless service provider as they can be slow in releasing your number.

Cancellations/Refunds

You may return merchandise purchased from TracFone Wireless for a refund or a replacement within 30 days, provided that the procedures and requirements referred to in our return policy below are followed.

Returned or exchanged products must be in brand-new, original condition. Items must be in the original, undamaged manufacturer's packaging with all packaging materials, including instruction booklets, packing inserts, and the blank warranty cards. Any merchandise missing the original Universal Product Code (UPC) cannot be returned. The manufacturer's labeled packaging must be enclosed within an additional shipping carton. Please do not place stickers or shipping labels on the original manufacturer's package.

If the item purchased was correct, but does not meet your satisfaction, the buyer will be responsible for the return/exchange shipping charges.

Terms and Conditions

By purchasing this item and following activation, you will receive wireless service from Tracfone Wireless.

In this offering, you will receive 3 SIM cards and an Airtime PIN. Plans can be activated once on most of the major wireless networks on which Tracfone provides service as long as the device is compatible with that network. Tracfone utilizes the best networks in America for talk, text and data service. Please review the coverage maps to ensure that you reside in an area where service is provided on your compatible device. You likely do, but you will want to verify.

Service must be activated on tracfone.com Upon activation and every month thereafter, until the end of your service term, you will receive wireless service. You will not be able to exceed the allotted amount of voice, texts or data. If you exhaust your credits, you may purchase additional credits directly at tracfone.com

UNLIMITED DOES NOT MEAN UNREASONABLE USE.

If Tracfone finds that you are using an unlimited service offering for anything other than its intended purposes, Tracfone may at its option terminate your service or change your plan to one with no unlimited usage components.

When you are running low on your credits, a notification message will be sent to you. You will also receive a notification that your service will expire on the last day of your service term. You will be notified to refill your account with additional service(s) should you exhaust any monthly allotment for data, or when your service term expires.

You must utilize a compatible device in order to use Tracfone Service. Any device that is currently active under a contract, has been suspended for non-payment, or is reported lost or stolen may be ineligible for use with this service. Additional exclusions may apply.

Mobile internet speeds may vary by product line due to underlying wireless network constraints and device compatibility. Compatible devices required for 4G LTE speed mobile internet access.

This plan only works within the United States and does not support international roaming.
