Choosing the Right TV Screens

Like many other electronics, your Westinghouse TV has a lifespan. It could get dropped or hit hard enough to warrant a replacement. When this happens, there are a number of things you'll need to consider before you make your next move.

Can I repair the cracked LCD of my Westinghouse TV?

Like other parts, it is possible to replace the screen of your TV. You only need to assess the extent of the damage. To do this, check whether the plasma or the LCD pixels behind the screen are still intact. It will be possible to repair your Westinghouse Television if they are. On the other hand, any damage to these two areas would necessitate a change of TV.

How will I know if my LCD is faulty?

There are a number of features that you can check to determine whether your LED is working fine. If you notice these features, then your LCD is indeed faulty:

  • Spots
  • Unusually high pixels
  • Distorted pictures
  • Color issues

If you notice these features in a new package, you need to contact the manufacturer for a possible replacement. In this regard, make sure you keep your purchase receipts, the model number, and the serial number of your Westinghouse television close. You can find these on the back of your television set.

How can I replace my LCD?

Once you have purchased your replacement, consider getting an electrician to fix it for you. If not, however, you can replace it by yourself. Here is the procedure you can use for this. Remember that you can optionally get a second-hand replacement, rather than a new one.

  • Create enough working space - Clear out a space that you will be able to work seamlessly. If you need help moving things around feel free to enlist some help.
  • Safety fist - Ensure that the TV is unplugged from the power outlet and all cables are disconnected. We wouldn't want incidents of electric shocks.
  • Unscrew - Trace the frame screws on the edge of the broken TV screen and unscrew them.
  • Remove broken screen - You will want to do this very carefully taking care not to break any clips that could be in reinforcing your Westinghouse LCD TV screen.
  • Set aside screen - Remove any cables running from the TV to the broken LED part. You may want to take a photo of how these cables attach to the broken part as you will need to return them exactly the way they were. Then set aside the broken screen.
  • Replace - Once all this is done your new part is ready to be fitted. Your new Westinghouse LCD replacement should fit snuggly into your TV. Ensure that everything is connected exactly how it was before disassembly. The photo you took earlier should come in hand for this.
  • Power on - Once all this is done it will be time to test the new screen. Power up and test whether the screen works perfectly.
