Suunto Core Watches

I did quite a bit of research on this watch before buying it. I am a former Marine and retired Naval Aviator and this is exactly the type of watch that matches my needs and personality. It has a Marine Corps look to it (Traverse Alpha Foliage) with the olive drab case and wrist band. I looks and feels "Marine Proof" as well. As a hunter and fly fisherman, I often park my vehicle and walk in to unfamiliar forests. The bread crumb feature is a key element of this watch to get me back to my vehicle. The ability to set POIs is also especially a nice feature for hunting and fishing, in order to return to places you want to remember. I am Medicare age, so I do not consider myself a techno-geek. However, I can figure out how to use this watch and the features in which I am most interested, and I would recommend this watch to any of the boomer generation who are looking for a hunting and fishing and hiking watch, with a mil spec look to it.

One word summarizes this watch- AWESOME! I just received mine today and I'm highly impressed. I fancy myself a bit of a watch guy. Women are into shoes, kids are into toys, and I'm into watches. Prior to this watch I had a Casio G-Shock Rangeman. Although not as durable, the Suunto Traverse Alpha is head and shoulders above my old G-Shock. It's lighter and more comfortable on my wrist, and I love the textile wristband. This watch has a myriad of different functionalities which can be a tad overwhelming to learn. My advice? Take the time to review the operator's manual so you can learn how to operate the watch. Too many great things to list about this watch. In a nut shell- if you like hunting, fishing, backpacking, rock climbing and just about any other outdoor activity you can think of- THIS is the watch for you! It also syncs up with your phone to receive texts and to see who is calling you.

It's exactly what I wanted and, if anything, exceeds my expectations. In particular, I really needed a GPS navigation device that could leave a breadcrumb trail for me as I like to strike off into the woods from any and all types of departure points. This device allows me to leave an important intersection on any trail and hedgehog thru the woods to a distant place and return to the exact place of my departure. The watch is very rugged and has been determined to be extremely reliable by marines and others (far more capable than I) to navigate freely within tree-covered wide -open spaces. Positive reviews by such pros helped to" seal the deal " for me!

Watch works as expected. Watch needs to be off wrist for temperature reading to be accurate. Barometer and Altimeter use the same sensor. In order for the watch to determine the correct Barometric reading, the elevation must be entered correctly by the user. And vice-versa, in order for the watch to determine the correct elevation, the Barometric pressure at sea level at that time for that area must be entered manually by the user. . Automatic sensor mode was useless, works well on either Baro or Altimeter modes. . Compass is accurate. Sunrise/Sunset works for limited locations spread around the globe, I found a location 50km near me.

It's not bad looking watch pretty much what I wanted, note I'm not a guy who wears a watch but I like it a lot. It has cool features it looks good . But being not owned this before I got to say display seems not very bright or light . So I'm guessing bought new ...battery maybe old being it was running when received time will tell . An will no for sure when replacing with new battery. That's why gave it 4 stars. But I do reccomend this watch.

Love the styling, size, fit, and features. This watch is super lightweight and really does fit like a glove. It's perfect as a tool watch such as when I need the barometer or any of the other features, but it isn't perfect in low light. In darkness you can use the built in light but in weak light it's just grey on grey. From my experience this is just a nuisance moments out of a day. Loren

Well so far the watch is an amazing time peice and as far as look, build quality and in size comparison it weighs nothing! Also easy to use once I watched a short utube video on it. Ty again and Semper Fi

I've loved this watch for years..... Finally bought it( At a great price). Just to find out. I wish I had an engineering degree so I could use all that it can do ! Great purchase!
