Visit the 1980s with a "Stranger Things" DVD Set

Netflix launched "Stranger Things" in 2016 with the first season that focused on a mysterious young girl and her new friends. Every season that aired since then expanded on the story and got viewers interested in what would happen to the characters. You can relive the fun and excitement with a "Stranger Things" DVD set from your favorite season.

While you can stream each season on Netflix, you can buy box sets from the seasons, too. One of the collector's edition sets was available exclusively from Target. This set comes in a unique case designed to resemble a VHS box. The cover even has stickers to mimic those used by video rental stores. It comes with two discs, the first of which has trailers for other Netflix shows. You also get all eight episodes of the show's second season on two discs. Both the first and second seasons are available as an exclusive box set.

"Stranger Things" box sets are available on both DVD and Blu-ray. You generally need to decide between the two formats based on the type of media player that you have. Both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will play Blu-ray discs as well as DVDs. If you have a PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, you can only play DVDs. Sealed and open sets of the show are available in either format.

If you have a newer television and the right media player, you can buy a 4K set of the show. While other streaming apps shoot films and shows in standard definition, Netflix shot this series in 4K. This provides a deeper contrast to the colors featured on the show and allows you to see some of the darker backgrounds more easily. With a 4K media player, you can watch the Blu-ray box set. Netflix has not yet announced plans to release the show in a 4K format.

Though you won't get a director’s cut of "Stranger Things," the box set does include some other features. Some sets come with exclusive photos of the cast and crew behind the scenes. You can also watch a short trailer to see what happens in the next season and learn about other Netflix shows. The box set includes specials on the making of the show, too.
