Parker Brothers The Simpsons Clue Board and Traditional Games

"The Simpsons" have crossed over with several board games through the years, and one of them was an official version of the classic mystery game Clue. In this game, the Simpson family descends on a mansion to solve a murder mystery featuring popular characters from the TV show. Players in the game must travel across the board solving each clue to discover who did what.

What is the story in The Simpsons Clue?

This board game features a comedic take on the original premise and truly reinvents itself as The Simpsons Clue. A group of characters from "The Simpsons" is visiting Mr. Burns’ mansion when Mr. Burns is found dead. It's up to the players to find out who killed Mr. Burns, where the murder took place, and which weapon was used to kill the character. This process is done using many question and clue cards.

Who are the playable characters in The Simpsons Clue?

The board game features many of the main characters from the show. Not only are these characters the main suspects, but they also take shape as the play pieces that replace traditional Clue characters like Professor Plum, Colonel Mustard, Ms. Scarlett, and Mrs. White. Playable characters and suspects include Homer Simpson, Marge Simpson, Bart Simpson, Lisa Simpson, Waylon Smithers, and Krusty the Clown. Play pieces feature highly detailed recreations of the characters in outfits that match those worn by their original Clue board game counterparts.

What weapons are available in The Simpsons Clue?

Traditional Clue weapons like the gun and candlestick have been replaced with symbols representing “The Simpsons” animated series. There are six Simpsons weapons in the Parker Brothers board game. Two are associated directly with Homer Simpson: a poisoned donut and a uranium rod from his work at the nuclear plant. Lisa's saxophone and Bart's slingshot also serve as weapons in the game. The other two weapons are an Extend-O-Glove and Marge Simpson's signature pearl necklace.

What locations are featured in The Simpsons Clue?

Instead of using traditional rooms on the board as in the regular version of Clue, the Simpsons version features buildings from the animated series. This includes the Simpsons’ house, The Kwik-E-Mart, Moe's Tavern, the nuclear power plant, and Krusty's television studio. Each area features detailed drawings on the cards and board, with sight gags directly related to the series. The rooms are spread out on the game board, and each player must make his or her way across the board to have a guess in each room.

How do the game's first and second editions differ?

The first edition of The Simpsons Clue board game featured pewter-styled pieces for the characters. In the second edition of the game, the pewter player pieces were replaced with fully colored plastic playing pieces. On The Simpsons Clue game board box, the piece style available is visible in the bottom right corner where the image preview gallery is located. The card deck and other pieces remain the same.
