There are a variety of suspensions, wheel sizes, brake styles, and frame materials to choose from.
What types of suspensions are there from Nishiki bikes?Suspension is designed to lessen the impact to your body as you ride through rough terrain on a mountain bike. Nishiki bikes have a variety of suspension types for all different kinds of off-road riding.
- Rigid: These bicycles do not have any suspension. Fat bikes with wider tires often feature this type of suspension because the tires absorb most of the impact.
- Hardtail: A bike with this suspension has a suspension fork in the front but does not have any suspension in the back. Hardtail suspension is designed for cross-country trails and most all-mountain trails.
- Full suspension: These bikes have a front suspension fork and a rear shock for all types of terrain. When climbing uphill, you can often lock out the rear suspension.
Wheel size affects the amount of impact you feel while riding over various terrain. There are three different wheel sizes available, each with its own characteristics.
- 26-inch wheels: This size was the original wheel size for all mountain bikes.
- 27.5-inch wheels: These wheels are often located on full suspension and hardtail bikes.
- 29-inch wheels: These larger tires can be found on all types of suspensions.
Finding the Nishiki brand bicycle that properly fits your size is an important factor. Mountain bike sizes are based on your height and inseam measurements. Once you have these measurements, you can use a chart to find the right frame size of a Nishiki bike for you. Frame sizes vary from small to extra-large, with measurements from 13 inches to over 23 inches. The frame size indicates the distance from the middle of the crank to the top of bicycle frame. When sitting on the bike with your feet flat on the floor, you can determine it is the right size if the bar between the handlebar and seat is about two to three finger spaces from your groin area.
