GE Dishwasher Parts and Accessories

GE Appliances is one of the largest manufacturers of appliances in the United States. If you need to replace a part or accessory in your GE dishwasher, such as the silverware basket, a rack assembly, or the drain hose, you have plenty of options available to you.

What parts does a dishwasher have?

Dishwashers perform several actions to get dishes clean. They immerse your dirty dishes in water that’s been heated to the right temperature. They dispense detergent and shoot targeted jets at your dishes that are capable of removing grease and embedded food particles. Afterward, they rinse your dishes. Many dishwashers can dry dishes as well. Dishwashers contain many common parts:

  • The control mechanism: The control mechanism is basically a timer that allocates the number of minutes necessary to perform each of the dishwashing equipment’s various functions. Older GE dishwashers use simple electro-mechanical timing mechanisms, and other models often have computerized control consoles.
  • The intake valve: When the intake valve opens, water moves passively into the dishwashing equipment as its pressure rises. When the intake valve closes, no more liquid can enter the GE dishwasher.
  • The pump: The pump forces water into the GE dishwasher’s spray arms. It’s powered by an electric motor. Most dishwashing models use reversible pumps that also force wastewater into the drain once the cycle is through.
  • Spray arms: As their name implies, spray arms circulate the water that washes and drains your dishes.
  • Racks: GE dishwashing models have both upper and lower racks to facilitate proper washing. They’re also equipped with a smaller rack or basket that’s designed to hold dirty knives, forks, and spoons_
  • The thermostat: The thermostat regulates water temperature.
  • Door panels: Door panels are the insets that are designed to hold liquid or powered dishwashing detergent.
What are portable and built-in GE dishwashers?

GE Appliances manufactures both portable and standard built-in machines for washing dishes. Freestanding dishwashing equipment can be moved about your kitchen, while standard dishwashers are designed to occupy a more permanent place. Freestanding dishwashers typically have a smaller capacity than standard dishwashers. Whereas a standard dishwasher can hold between 12 and 14 place settings, a portable dishwasher may have room for eight.

Standard dishwashers are designed to fit neatly under your countertop. Sophisticated functionalities, like temperature control and energy-saving cycles, are found more often in standard dishwashing models. These functions can be found in portable models as well.
