The original BMX Bicycles: Dyno Bikes

Bicycles are essential for transportation and recreation around the globe. People of all ages use bicycles to bridge the transportation gap between walking and driving, and quite often use them as a green alternative to motorized transport in an effort to reduce their carbon footprints. These complex machines allow us to accomplish many different things, and with a little research you can find the Dyno bike that fits your needs on eBay.

What models of Dyno bikes are available?

Here are a few different models of Dyno bikes listed for sale on eBay:

  • The Compe – The Compe was an early model of Dyno bike designed for BMX competitions. The Compe also comes in a pro version that includes high-end add-ons.
  • The D Tour – The D tour was designed with a sleek look and special “cheese grater” sprocket to stand out from other BMX competition bikes.
  • GT Dyno VFR – After the Dyno company was sold to GT Bikes in 1985, the Dyno VFR was released as the new BMX model. The core design change was the straight seat post instead of the standard curved post seen on Dyno bicycles of the time.
  • Dyno Roadster – One of the non-BMX bicycle models made by Dyno, this beach cruiser has a long body and the standard straight-line handlebars.

  • Spin Tech Gyro – One of the early gyro models that allowed for full rotation of the handlebars with fully engaged hand brakes. The Spin Tech was a Dyno Design brand.
  • Curved seat post – As mentioned above, Dyno bikes made prior to the sale to GT had the curved seat post. This design conformed to the common "pedal riding" style of BMX riders of the time. The curved seat post allowed the rider to manipulate their body position mid-ride without coming into contact with the seat.
  • Vintage Dyno stem - Vintage Dyno stems can be found with a large "D" centered on the exposed side. Post GT purchase, the stems actually say 'Dyno' instead of displaying the "D."
Finding the right Dyno bikes for sale

As Dyno Designs sold their production rights to GT bikes, original Dyno designs are collector's items that you can find on eBay. Since Dyno is currently owned by Pacific Cycles, new Dyno brand parts can only be found in specifically made components, and full Dyno bike productions ended in the early 2000s.
