Finding Replacement Keyboards for Your Laptop

Anyone who uses computers frequently knows that they can wear down due to constant use or simply break. However, with simple upkeep and maintenance, as well as minimal adjustments, you can have your Compaq or other brand computer working for years.

Why Might I Need to Replace My HP Laptop Keyboard?

  • Connection. Because of constant use, the connection of your keyboard to your laptop's hard drive and other internal equipment, like your keyboard driver, may not function properly or communicate efficiently. This is one reason why you may need to switch out your keyboard on your Compaq laptop. If you are a hard typer or your keypad is especially old, the keyboard may not register the commands you type. Changing your laptop keyboard is relatively easy if you follow a handful of steps.
  • Broken keys. Either from use or by accidentally dropping your Compaq laptop, you may have a few broken keys. While one or two function keys are easy to switch out individually, if you have several broken keys, it might be more advantageous to completely switch out your entire keyboard. It is important to consider which model you have to match your keyboard to your specific Compaq or Pavilion laptop.
  • Upgrading laptop. You may find that your entire Compaq or Pavilion computer is slow or needs a good overhaul of equipment because of age and usage. If you are already upgrading your laptop's internal equipment, you may as well give it a facelift too. For some, finding another computer because theirs is old isn't really an option, and they would prefer to customize or upgrade their original piece of equipment. Being able to replace old or broken items for upgraded equipment such as a laptop keyboard is a great option.

What Are Other Replacement Options for My HP Laptop?

  • Individual keys. While fully replacing the key board on your Compaq or Pavilion notebook isn't an option, obtaining and switching out individual keys is quick, easy, and inexpensive.
  • Touchpad. Many newer laptops, such as the Compaq or Pavilion, have touchpads that work alongside the keyboard to communicate with the hardware and Windows operating system. These can wear out, crack, or altogether stop working. This is a replacement piece that, like the keyboard, is relatively easy to switch out if following instructions.
  • Screen. Computer screens are an easy item to crack if you accidentally drop or crush them. These are an important part to replace to ensure your laptop is fully functional and to use your Windows system.
  • Mouse. While a mouse doesn't always come with a laptop, for many people, it feels awkward navigating a touchpad, so a compatible mouse is an additional accessory that comes into play. However, these small accessories often times break down and stop communicating with your Windows processor. These are relatively inexpensive to get an entirely new replacement piece.
