The Grey YEEZY 700 was the first colourway in the 700 line. It's common to see it referred to simply as "Grey," but the official name is "Multi Solid Grey/Chalk White/Core Black." Another common nickname is the "Wave Runner." The white midsole features accents in orange, black, and grey; parts of the black outsole wrap up the toe and the bottom edge of the midsole. The uppers feature light grey panels paired with black, blue, forest green, and dark grey accents. For a pop of colour, the shoes come with light greenish-yellow laces.

When the first teaser images of the YEEZY Boost 700 appeared, they caused a stir in the trainer community. The profile and shape of the shoe were different from anything else West had designed — the tall, sculpted midsole and multi-panel design gave it a distinct '90s vibe. The bulky silhouette features contouring on the midsole and an outsole pattern that resembles an abstract spinal column. Like many YEEZY shoes, the outsole comes with herringbone treads and cutouts that reveal the midsole material. The uppers on the YEEZY Grey 700 feature layers of intricate, curving panels with perforated accents on the heel.

Materials of the Grey YEEZY shoes

Part of the appeal of the Wave Runner YEEZYs is the combination of luxury and athletic materials. The uppers feature fine mesh underlays on the lining sides, tongue, and the top of the toe box. A wider-weave mesh accents the padded collar. On top, premium leather and suede panels in varying colours bring West's upscale sense of style into the mix. The heel and the subtle three-stripe details on the quarter panel feature reflective threads for nighttime visibility. Inside the midsole, a layer of Boost foam runs from front to back for full-foot cushioning and enhanced stability.
