AT&T SIM Cards

AT&T SIM Cards

Whether you have purchased a phone and want to link it to a network or you're looking for a prepaid phone plan, AT&T offers SIM cards that can meet your needs. AT&T SIMs connect your smartphone to the AT&T network, which is a nationwide provider of cellular service. Once connected, your iPhone or another device will have the ability to access AT&T's wireless data network if you have AT&T coverage in your area.

What kinds of SIM cards does AT&T sell?
  • OEM SIM cards: These cards are designed to be linked to a full AT&T monthly plan. OEM SIM cards may be for those who have bought their smartphones from third parties and need to connect them to carriers for the long term.
  • Prepaid SIM cards: Prepaid cards offer an appropriate option for those needing more short-term access to the AT&T system. This can be particularly useful for international travelers visiting the United States who need local network options while continuing to use their own iPhones or other smartphones.
What size AT&T SIM cards are available?

There are several available sizes of SIM cards, including the regular SIM, micro-SIM, and nano-SIM. AT&T sells cards in all three sizes to meet the needs of the majority of phones, including iPhones, smartphones, and other devices.

How do you install a SIM?

These cards can usually be installed into most phones. However, the smartphone will need to be unlocked before another SIM can be used. Some smartphones come with a SIM-removing device, which will typically have a small pointy end. This small pointy end should be pushed into a slot on the side of your phone. Once you push it in, the SIM holder should pop out. Place the SIM in the holder, and press the card holder back into the device. If you don't have the proper tool, a flattened staple or a thin paperclip can sometimes be used to extract the card holder.

How do you use a SIM?

Once the card is installed on your unlocked iPhone or another smartphone, you will typically need to activate the card. To do so, follow the instructions that came with the card. This will typically involve calling the carrier number from another phone. As you activate the card, you will need to either select a plan from your carrier or deposit funds into a paid account. At that point, a phone number will be assigned to your device. Once you have activated the SIM card, you should be able to turn on your cell phone and send and receive calls. You may need to modify some settings within your smartphone in order to reach the proper network. Be sure to read and follow the instructions that come with the card.
