  • New Listing1926 home movie: FOOTBALL game and early FORDSON "Snow Devil" SNOWMOBILE

This 100-foot 16mm silent black-and-white home movie comes from the family of Leon E. Titus, who founded a Ford dealership in Olympia, Washington, in the 1920’s. This film is postmarked January 19, 1926, and addressed to Northwest Appliances, Inc., of Seattle. The film begins with a shot of the well-dressed people in the stands at an unidentified football game, followed by plenty of game action right from the sidelines. The remainder of the film reveals Titus' predilection for anything motorized. In this case it's an early snowmobile, a Fordson tractor converted for use in snow by mounting it on a pair of torpedo-shaped cylinders. This screw-propelled vehicle, sometimes called a "Snow Devil," must be the Armstead Snow Motor that was introduced that very year. It really moves along!.

This 100-foot 16mm silent black-and-white home movie comes from the family of Leon E. Titus, who founded a Ford dealership in Olympia, Washington, in the 1920’s. (Titus-Will dealerships are still in business in various cities in Washington state.) The film's expiration date is June 1, 1927, but it was apparently shot a year earlier than that. The box is labeled Destroyer Trip Olympia–Astoria. This is apparently a prelude to the Founders Day festivities held at Astoria, Oregon, between 20 July and 23 July 1926, in which several Navy destroyers, including the U.S.S.
