Easy to use, with some pleasantly surprising features.
I bought this item in order to capture old home movie footage I have collecting dust on VHS. I wasn't really interested in its functions as a DVD player. However, once it arrived I was pleasantly surprised to discover it had a component output - this is rare among DVD/VHS combis but allows for progressive scan and therefore an improved quality of image for DVD playback. Remarkably easy to use. Mine didn't come with a remote so I had to access everything through the front buttons. This can sometimes prove tricky but not in this case, it was extremely straightforward. Even has the added function of recording from DVD to VHS - although I can't think of many instances where you would want to use that function. Not the prettiest looking thing with what has become an old-fashioned silver finish, it doesn't sit well aesthetically with my black TV, Blu-Ray player, etc.

3x800W Red Head Continuous Studio Video Light Lighting Kit Dimmer Bulb Bag New

The cheapest way to light for filming.
While it is more that I'm not a particular fan of LED lights that I went with tungsten, the difference in price saves us so much on our budgets. Their only drawback is how hot they get. You have to let them cool before moving them and you have to use something to move the barndoors when they're on rather than your bare fingers. If you don't mind those constraints (or the fact you may have to let the actors off the set every once in a while to cool down) these lamps suffice for most close quarters filming. If you want to light the foreground and background then you may need more than three. Best purchase ever though, sincerely.
UK 1.8m WeiFeng WF-717 Heavy Duty Video Camcorder Tripod Camera with Fluid Held

Heavy as hell, but a total gem.
Previously I bought a WF-717 that was only 1.55m for use in wedding videos and other little films generally. I was really impressed by the fluid head and how stable the tripod felt, also how it was almost impossible to shake the camera on the tripod unless you were really trying. 1.55m wasn't high enough for everything I wanted so, instead of just getting new legs, I bought another at 1.8m. It's one downside is that it is just heavy enough to be really tire you after a couple of minutes, but the results are worth it.
