Great title for this story! Is it art, or just tacky?
Jayne Ann Krentz has a special talent for creating lovable, quirky women who, in spite of their better judgement, let their feminine curiosity get the better of them with the right man. Figuring out that this is the right man is half the fun of the story. The other half, is a good old-fashioned murder mystery. One that's twelve years old. Revenge and a New Age Spa called "Dimensions Institute" make for strange bedfellows, but Krentz makes it all work beautifully while developing the relationship between her main characters with deft skill. I've never read one of her books that I didn't like, but this one is in my top ten. The characters are well developed, even the secondary characters, particularly her old boss, are interesting. Even if you aren't an Art Deco fan, the descriptions of the art for the hotel are brought vividly to life. You can almost see yourself there in that sumptuous lobby, taken back to another time and place. Jayne Ann Krentz gets her reader caught up in the Fantasy.

Evocative of the story
This story grabbed me from the first sentence and kept me riveted till the end. Even better, there's a sequel that's just as good! The main character, Zoe, can "hear" the walls in a room cry out if there has been violence or strong emotions played out in the room. She is always careful before entering a new place to pause before stepping over the threshold to feel for the pulse of the space. She has made a new life for herself, desperately hiding away from everyone and everything in her old life. After hearing the screams of the walls in a very upscale house that she's been hired to redecorate, and knowing that she can't go to the police and tell them that "the walls told her" something terrible had happened there; she hires a private investigator to check out her client. She has a good friend who is escaping from the same nightmares Zoe is running from, and is the only person who knows who she really is and what she can do; the only person she can really trust. There are many twists and turns in the plot, great secondary characters whose own stories are also fascinating, and a house that is a main character in itself. Jayne Ann Krentz is a master at weaving several storylines in and around each other, never losing track of the threads that hold them together, and always bringing them to a satisfying end. I can promise you a great read, not only with this book, but with it's sequel as well. I can also promise this won't be your last Jayne Ann Krentz book! Enjoy!

Smitten
As usual with Janet Evonovich, regardless of what genre she is writing in, the dialogue is witty, sensual, and fun. The characters are people you wish lived next door, or that you had for your best friends. The problems facing the two potential lovers are realistic and handled with sympathy, compassion, and humor, with humor coming out on top most of the time. This book had me laughing out loud quit a bit, and having to share some of the dialog with my husband who also burst out laughing. The supporting characters are just as interesting and, if possible, even more fun than the hero and heroine of the story. If you're looking for a delicious love story with lots of humor and fun, quirky situations, and characters you can really root for, this is it!
