Great sound quality, FM, recording, Rockbox firmware!
7 of 7 found this helpful No longer current model, but a superb machine nonetheless and often a bargain. Blows iPods out of the water on sound quality, and includes an FM radio, recording ability, and optical in/out.
The stock firmware is a bit poor, but with the (easy) installation of Rockbox firmware (rockbox.org), it's a whole new machine.
iPod interface (clickwheel), is still better, but Rockbox is very good, and much fuller featured.

Way better than the standard shifter
You know this is designed for the rotary shifting Sturmey Archer hubs right? Perhaps it also works with Nexus - the 1-2 spacing is very close (8.6 instead of 7.8mm), and while 2-3 is larger, it doesn't matter as 3rd is just slack cable.
Kind of chunky looking, larger than other SA thumbies, but given how terrible the standard thumb trigger shifter is this orders of magnitude better. The standard shifter destroys cables every few hundred miles because it stresses it through a sharp angle.
This is (IMO) ergonomically better, and you know where you are without looking. Ironically I think it's when you're unsure if you already downshifted is when the standard thumb-trigger shifter eats cables - if you push hard when already in 1st. With this one you can feel what gear you're in.
