Affordable excellence!
I am not a professional, so I don't need a lens built to those standards. That being said, I am astounded at the overall image quality this lens can provide if used with proper technique. I am using this lens with a Canon 6D and the image quality is outstanding. Significantly better than the Canon 70-300 USM IS it has replaced. Very satisfied, especially considering the price point.

Tamron 28-80MM/3.5-5.6 Lens Very nice
Don't discount this lens on the basis of its being mostly plastic and the low price. For the money, it can't be beat. Close focusing range not great, but otherwise unexpectedly sharp. Autofocus pretty quick. If you look closely, you will see a resemblance between the Tamrons and some OEM lenses in the consumer arena. Tamron builds them. Remember, technique is almost everything.
