Monster 128450-00 NCredible NTune Headband On-Ear Headphones - Black
Dec 21, 2016
Great efficient headphones,
I'm an audiophile and most of my favorite headphones are Sennsheiser; I own a variety of theirs in both open back and closed styles going back 20+ years and mostly in the $250-$500 price range. For those who want a fun, nicely balanced bassy headphone (with some added crispness to compensate for the bass bump) that sound great at reasonable volumes, these fit the bill perfectly. The sound isn't neutral, but it's more engaging and honestly what a lot of people prefer. Plus they do a great job of passive noise cancellation! The on ear product that Beats had Monster produce in early gens were muddy garbage that I did not find acceptable--do not apply those experiences to this product. I also tune car audio, and this is the exactly type of sound that people who want a balanced fun sound (detail with clean, visceral "thump" and weight) are thrilled when I can produce for them at reasonable power levels to overpower road noise (110db range type of tuning level).

Cisco RV130 Multifunction VPN Router
Feb 28, 2017
Good basic small biz router (with updated firmware)
These routers had some significant growing pains, but all of my complaints have been resolved in firmware updates during 2016 and have proven to be a stable product in multiple office installs for fast, basic VPN routing needs (and also supports LTE dongles for WAN backup). One star docked for the shiny & easily scratched plastic build, although Cisco has been doing this for years on the entry to mid range RV models. These are a decent successor to the RV180x series, which are now end of life and a security risk. Don't apply this positive review to the RV130W, which has unstable & low performance N300 wifi that will destabilize the core router functions when loaded to any significant degree.
New Plextor M7V 2.5" 256GB SATA III SSD
Nov 17, 2016
A subpar showing from Plextor
I've been buying all models of Plextor drives since the M3S/M3P gen, and quality has always been great but this product has been slow to meet its published specs and basically unstable uncluding BSOD's resuming from sleep until firmware 1.04. I like the Marvell-based architecture but this one doesn't support DEVSLP either and has shown high latency problems similar to the notorious Crucial BX200 in numerous online reviews. The S2C's early reviews look more promising, despite my preference for a Marvell-based drive.
