RME support is worth extra $$$
If you're new to pro audio software mixers, it will take some time to learn TotalMix, which is the driver and mixing software which you'll install to run any RME audio device, including the HDSP 9632.
I obtained this card because it's the lowest entry price for legendary RME low latency. It's astonishing that this card, which was originally released at least 18 years ago, still receives full support from RME. Seriously, the driver was updated just three months ago, in October 2020.
Another thing: the driver package, which contains TotalMix, is LESS THAN 9MB. I don't know ANY hardware drivers so compact, and it speaks to RME's R&D to make stuff that works smoothly and with lowest system resources.
I have no doubt that RME will retire this card in the coming years -- it runs on a legacy PCI slot -- but I'm nevertheless confident it will continue to work well for me.
