The new Yamaha Motif XF8 has important advantages: - Upgraded ROM, about 741 MB allowing you to have many more waveforms. - You can add Flash memory, up to 2 GB. This will allow you to save your samples or sound libraries and you'll have those available with no extra loading time. This is basic if you need many customized elements or samples to use for performances. - The synthesis AWM2 is really great, allowing you to get stunning sounds and you get tremendous control over every aspect for your programs. - I really love the samples for CF3 and S6. Those really rock and inspire me like never before! - Now, you can add KARMA abilities to the Motif XF which greatly expands your performance. There are some features I would like to have, like the following: - Screen resolution. I think that a resolution of 640x480 (or similar) would be really better for the interface. - Touchscreen. This is a great way to ease the operation. Many guys think that Motif is hard to learn, I think this could get easier with a nice touchscreen. - WiFi. Motif XF includes an Ethernet (cable) port. Nowadays, WiFi is pretty popular and easier to setup. - Keyboard Action. Personally, I prefer a Weighted Hammer Action. The Motif XF 8 has a Balanced Hammer Action. You'll notice the action softer which makes easy to play synth like sounds... but I really miss an action similar as a real piano. - Integrated Firewire. With Motif XS8 you got integrated mLAN (Firewire) out of the box. Now, you have to add this as an option. - Phantom power. This way you could plug your mics.Read full review
Previously, I owned a Motif XS8. I then decided to upgrade to the Motif XF8. As you may already know, the Motif synthesizer is one of your top-line products. This is not your typical keyboard. It is very complex and powerful. I have been enjoying my journey with the motif thus far and still have a long way to go in learning about the things that this machine is capable of. Essentially, when you buy this machine, you are buying a complete studio-like equipment. You can create a complete song from start to finish, LITERALLY! You will be able to record all your instruments (from internal and/or external plug-ins), then add your vocals. Mix everything to your liking and export the full song as an audio file. This is why I stated that this is a COMPLETE package of a real studio environment. Now you can understand why the machine then would be so complex. Due to it's complexity, one has to be fully committed and patient in order to really get to learn everything about, and truly enjoy, the Motif. The XF8 version of the Motif even has a Wifi capability! Amazing. This has, by far, been the best instrument investment I have ever made and I plan to continue my relationship with the Motif for a while.Read full review
I've used my share of multi-track keyboard workstations, but the FX8 is easily the most feature-loaded and best sounding unit I've ever seen or used. It's a somewhat steep learning curve, and I found the manual occasionally challenging, but once you get past the clumsy first dates, it's a love affair. Amazing keyboard.

I love it. However, it is complicated, getting familiar with this product is more than a university course to study and understand so you can use it.
It is a product with a very professional characteristics. it has all the necessary elements to use in a recording studio.
