When Xena First came to TV I was a young girl and Imediately hooked. The series a spin off of Kevin Sorbros Hercules the Legendary Journeys- Is about the Adventures of Xena an ex-warlord and her faithfull side kick Gabriel. As Xena travels to help people in need make peace between warring groups and to find peace within herself for the evil she comited in her days as an ulmost ruthless warlord, she displays a varried knowledge of medical skills combat abillities and tolerence that combine to make her an example of female empowerment. Some reviewers have stated that the series has an undercurent of lesbianinsm and though I have yet to see most of the series I found no trace of this in the first season. I found examples of familly loyalty, a little strife and a strong sense of sisterhood between the leed characters. There is also a moral that if you watch that can be found at the end of every episode ie. tolerence for others, forgivenes, doing the right thing. Comprised of a colorful cast of thieves, gods, kings, monsters, and even a titan or three Xena Warrior princess explores the myths and history of ancient greece and some of the sourounding countries in an imaginative and engaging styleRead full review
Xena Warrior Princess Season One is the start of the epic saga that headed the television ratings for the better part of 90s. Starring Lucy Lawless this series follows her's and her sidekick's adventures through the mythical age of Greece. It blends a harmonious mixture of comedy, friendship, love, and heart stopping action. You will feel like you are a part of the story of the most powerful women in the ancient world. Sword fighting, flipping, acrobatic fight scenes, great actors, and a epic story make this a must for anyone who loves to see women kicking butt and taking names. Great product and Great series, you never want to see it end. It is a must have!
This show, shows a great friendship between two people. And their adventures along the way, on the their journey through life. This show has everything one would be looking for in any kind of genre. It takes place in the early times of ceaser and the ancient greek gods. Those that love such type of history should look into the show. there are so many qualities to it, which i cant describe just by writing. you would have to see it for your self. I do not in any way regret buying these seasons, and neither would any one else, i am sure. If people have seen "Hercules" the legendary journeys (i believe thats the title). Then you are sure to like XENA just as much, or maybe more.

Xena of Amphipolis was a fictional character in the now ended television series Xena: Warrior Princess and also in Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. She was played by the New Zealand actress Lucy Lawless. Xena first appeared on the Hercules: The Legendary Journeys television series, (in the episode The Warrior Princess airing in March 1995), as a seductive but treacherous warlord. Two more episodes during the May 1995 TV sweeps presented her evolution from a villainess to a friend and ally of Hercules. Viewer interest in her was so high that shortly afterwards she became the main character of her own spin-off series Xena: Warrior Princess, and the two series quite often played back to back. Ironically though, her character was originally obsessed with defeating Hercules and thus obtaining his title as the greatest living warrior, she never did defeat "Zeus' Favorite Son". As a matter of fact, Hercules was the one credited with pointing her down the path of redemption when he beat her in combat and showed her that selfishness and greed were not the way to live. In her own TV series, Xena set out to redeem her murderous past by fighting against tyranny and evil and protecting the innocent and weak. I personally caught the show after it had started and began watching the rerun episodes to catch up. A lot of her past would remain obscure, but flashbacks would open up new chapters in her past as she revisited the people or areas again. This would be a good DVD to either catch up on shows previously missed, or a good introduction to someone who had not seen the show previously. MichaelRead full review
