Ministry's With Sympathy isn't what I'm used to by them I got into Ministry around the time "Jesus Built My Hotrod" came out. I'm used to the hardcore, and edgey approach, this is almost poppish but after listening to it, and giving it a chance it grew on me...I like it.

For those who do not know, this album is not any other Ministry albums. Not even close. It is more like Wham or Hall and Oates. Cute photo of him inside looks like George Michael, lol. That being said, this is a real good album of pop/dance music that is catchy. Just don't expect Ministry - Everyday is Halloween. Overall this album stands alone if you like that sort of music. The record company forced him into making this stuff. I actually had this in vinyl when it first came out and liked it a lot. Imagine my surprise when I heard the "new" version of Ministry! Enjoy!

I like this early Ministry album, even though it differs tremendously from their later efforts in every respect. This CD is more of a dance/electronic album laden with synthesizer beats and more pop-oriented vocals than Ministry is better known for. But I chose this particular version of the CD because it is a rare and long out-of-print 1983 Arista Records release. And being the Ministry collector I am, I couldn't pass it up. If you like 12-Inch Singles or even Twitch, two other early Ministry releases, then chances are you'll like this album too. But if you only like what Ministry released after "A Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste", than you'll probably want to avoid this one. I personally enjoy every Ministry album and hearing how they evolved with every record they put out is a true feat of endurance and an ability to adapt to a constantly changing social climate. So for the Ministry completist, or even the fairly curious, this album may be worth checking out. You can find it at very reasonable prices depending on whether or not it matters to you if you own an original version or a reissue. But it's always best to have some idea of what you're getting before you buy. Happy Listening!Read full review
