If there are hungry squirrels in your neighborhood, do not use this feeder without some sort of squirrel baffle or other squirrel-discouraging device. Otherwise, the birds love it and the squirrels empty it. The feeder is well-made. The top opens for easy filling. Mine was filled with black oil sunflower seeds. The seeds stayed in the feeder until bird or beast disturbed them. I eventually replaced mine with a "squirrel proof" model which--you guessed it--those pesky rascals soon emptied.

I have a really smart and strong squirrel in my backyard!! He ignored this little ball at first, then was hanging upside down trying to get sunflower seeds out... The next thing I know, he knocked it out of tree and got the top off and was sitting out in the backyard feasting ion sunflower seeds!! However, he did not chew through it like he has other feeders of mine. I just need to find a away to keep the lid on. it fits snugly, he is just a strong and smart little squirrel with a big appetite ! It was a good buy!...

I have a few different kinds of bird feeders around my house, but this one became the most popular after a few days! My birds love it, There's always one or two on it, and a couple on the ground below it to pick up what they drop. It's easy to use, and it only blew off the tree once when there was a really bad wind storm. Other than that, it works perfectly and I couldn't be happier with this product. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a bird feeder.

Nice feeder...black oil sunflower seeds so far...will get a second one...no squirrel dumping as of yet... It is made well of metal...all of it...the top stays on nicely and it should last a long time...Now if only someone would make a bottle with a trigger on it to fill/dispense the seeds into a feeder...one handed of course...I have my ideas...so sooner or later I will make it...

Perfect for smaller birds such as titmice, downy woodpeckers, nuthatches, and chickadees. Cardinals and jays don't care for it. The only downside I've noticed is the obvious: seed is unprotected from rain and snow. Otherwise, the design provides a nice change, and allows the smaller birds an opportunity to feed undisturbed while larger species visit traditional feeders. Would purchase again.
