This clock is very easy to set, alarm bell is load, very quite in operation as it has a sweep second rather than a "stepping" second hand and does not make a ticking sound. this clock takes a "C" size battery and is easy to install. has a ribbon that you place behind the battery to make for easy battery removal when it needs to be replaced.

Appearance and quality fine. Alarm VERY LOUD and vibrating. Does not not begin softly and get progressively louder. No snooze alarm. There was something about the positioning of the hands which required a few days for me to get used to. I don't know if it was their relative length or their position on the face at certain times. I'm not returning it, since I've learned to read it, and wrap it in a towel .to cut the sound.

When I inserted the battery in the clock everything was perfect. Approximately 6 hours later at 2 am I was woken by what I though was an alarm going off! It was the new clock making some kind of ticking noise like the gears moving the hands had somehow been stripped. I had to get up and take the battery out of it. The next day I made several attempts such as changing the battery, resetting the alarm, etc., but the clock kept making the same weird sound. I had to return it.

I love this clock. It works great so far. But the thing I like most about it is it takes a C battery. Just about every clock I own takes a double A battery. And I find that C batteries last longer in my opinion. After much searching I have finally found my ideal alarm clock. It doesn't hurt that Westclox is a really good brand either.
