What a great light weight easy carry amp for practice and a small intimate gig. When the noise gate opens you can hear a bit of hiss before it decays and I think the 30 version of this is a bit more quiet. Lots of amp emulations and 11 effects that sound pretty darn good in my opinion. All things considered, it's a great choice for budget, features and sound. Now, for the one I got used for $50. Almost sure it was owned by a human, however all the knobs were changed to various ones, the side screws were cross-threaded and the handle was a fabric strap. However it plays well and is fun after putting an appropriate handle and replacing the knobs. The screws I'm not touching.

This amp is versitile. The clean tones are warm and have depth. I have gigged with this amp 3 times and it has been reliable. The "write" feature is very user friendly and the memory of the amp returns with accuracy. I look forward to adding the two channel footswitch in order to swithch between the two customized/written channels I created. I highly recommend this amp and have found previous reviews to be written by amatuers. This amp is worthy of live performance, especially if you choose to mic it with a preamp. I wouldn't recommend playing a colleseum with it, but it will get the job done and then some for a working/travelling musician. Considering the cost, it is worth every penny of it. The weight, cost, and portability are unmatched for any amp of comparable size and tone. If you are looking to spend more and keep the same size, consider a PolyTone. But, this Vox Valvetronic 15 watt amp rocks. Don't hesitate if you find a good deal on one.Read full review
Ok, who has the years to track down all these amps, the money to buy them, and the time to play with them? 22 classic amps from 1950s to 1990s, plus 11 guitar pedals. Me, I needed an education about all these amps. I decided I like the Vox AC50 sound best. This amp is damn loud too, plugged into 2 12s it makes my ears bleed. I did make a speaker jack plate on the back that cuts out the 8", too small to do this amp justice. I only play it through 12" speakers now. I thought of separating the head into it's own cabinet, but not really necessary. I haven't gotten into programming my special sounds, because there's like 3 sounds I play all the time. One issue was the headphone and guitar jacks are made of aluminum, so they crackle. I fixed easy that with some Dielectric Grease on the guitar plug. I did not take this amp seriously until I recognized it was the one I played all the time, was the easiest to use, and no need for a daisy chain of pedals to maintain.Read full review

This is a great multi-purpose amp. I has a wide variety of sounds and effects that are all easy to use and they sound great. I've owner many amps in my lifetime and this amp is by far the best bang for the buck. The tube pre-amp gives you a warmer sound than most solid state amps and Vox solid state amps sound so good that they can fool you into believing they're tube amps. I highly recommend this as a practice amp, recording amp, or gig amp if you mic it. It's great.
Excellent combination of effects n unique amp heads to experiment with. Love it.
