I have a Velodyne satelite setup in my home theatre with a larger M & K sub. I am aware of Velodyne's quality. This is a great sub for bedroom or smaller living room applications. On my test disc it is good down to 35 hz and pretty good to 30 at room filling volume (1300 sq ft room).
I used this 8" sub to replace a good 12" and was pleasantly surprised. I once owned a Velodyne CT-80 but I prefer the DLS 3500r. The output of this subwoofer is quite impressive (gives a subwoofer gut massage I have not had in some time) but not at the expense of accuracy, especially if one leaves it in the default "jazz and classical" DSP setting. You need the remote control for phase and DSP settings, however, since these cannot be adjusted on the sub itself.

It was known off the top to be an older module but for the money it is the best deal sound per sound
