I had wanted to cut out meat for years. I finally read where meat slows your digestion down. I stopped eating meat for about 3 days, on the fourth day, I ate meat, and sure enough I was feeling bloated and sluggish. The book is packed with great tasting recipes that are easy and quick to make, with minimum cooking skills. After taking on a sensible excersize program, I took 2 1/2 inches off my waste, my blood pressure is perfect and my cholestrol levels are also perfect, my energy level went way up and I even look younger (so I've been told). Best of all I do not miss meat and all the chemicles used in the mass production of meat. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a way to a healthier self and big savings on their grocery bill. The only thing I did not like about the book, was I was wishing for more recipes. This is exactly what I was looking for. I started the Vegetarian life a few months back and I was having a very difficult time with foods/recipes, knowing what to have stocked in the pantry, and what to substitute. I had bought a few books on the subject like Skinny Bitch and Skinny Bitch in the Kitch and those are GREAT books too. But I wanted something a little more on pantry stocking and the basic must have/must know. I am not 100% sure how I stumbled along this book but I am so very glad I did. It does have panrty tips, kitchen must haves, substitutions, and RECIPES! I love recipes. It tells you what a vegetarian is and what it is not. It truely is the BEST vegetarian guide for us Dummies that are just starting out and testing the vegetarian waters. Highly, highly recommended and advised to have in your vegetarian kitchen/home. Written with incorrect, useless technical cooking recommendations and horrible, basic editing errors (like missing entire steps of a recipe). Disgusting recipes (and I eat mostly plant based already). Do not buy this book for eating healthy! Most recipes are made (incorrectly) with tofu. 🤢 Worst, book, ever 100%

My son is a vegetarian and I like to surprise him with good food that he will eat. I eat meat, but this also gives really nice and simple alternatives. I can enhance a meal with many of these dishes. I think I will get plenty of use out of this book.
