This 2-Disc set has a surprisingly, delightful-added-extra bonus. The behind scenes with interviews of G. Peck, and other actors and actresses in the movie...make it top quality next to the movie itself. There's no surprise why TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD won Best Picture, Best Actor (G.Peck)and other awards. The one I would have picked for best young actress would have been Mary Bedham who played the part of A. Finch's (G.Peck) daughter, Scout, in the movie. Her expression and action is so real and brilliantly portrayed. I don't know if Kim Stanley got an award for her narration of the movie....she should have!! Her voice, from start of the movie, makes a person move right in to the little "tired old town" of southern America in the 1930's. The first time I saw TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, I actually thought this person (narrator) was telling about the time when she was young and the movie was about her life as a child...that it was really a true story.Read full review
Gregory Peck plays the attorney role very well in this movie. He also plays a single father & portrays one excellently in this movie. As a class project suggestion, I purchased this movie to do a college paper on it & I received a good grade. I know that there are various other movies that were made to resemble this one, but in my opinion, this movie with always be acknowledged as the one & only best "To Kill a Mockingbird" movie!
To Kill a Mockingbird was the book that grabbed me when I was 12, even more than Diary of Anne Frank, and has been my favorite one ever since. The movie is also in my top 3 favorites because it is so true to the book. But, having the second disk of special interviews, etc., is the very thick layer of frosting on the whole kaboodle! I can't recommend this Anniversary set enough. That this movie was chosen to represent the 100th Anniversary of MGM (or whichever studio it was) should tell you how excellent it is. Gregory Peck and all the other actors are phenomenal. The special edition interview disk adds so much to the movie - even for a very old fan like me.
So as far as the movie goes I think they need a more modern version however I knew this wasn’t a modern movie when I bought it so I can’t complain about this movie the only other negative I could say is it is nowhere as good as the book but movies never are so again knowing this before I bought it I still can’t complain I really did enjoy watching it with my family though because my children ( ages 8,10,11) are not old enough to comprehend the book and this story teaches some really good morals and unlike most of today’s films this is very family friendly only place that I could see that would offend any is that the n**g*r word is used however in my opinion even though I don’t use this word and teach my children not to I think because of the point the story is trying to make it is somewhat needed in it The moral of you haven’t read the book or watched the movie is that you should never judge someone just because they are different than you and to always do what is right despite opposition or popularityRead full review

I have a very large DVD collection, with very few gems missing. Adding "To Kill A Mockingbird", has made my collection a much more complete library. With one less gem missing. The actors, direction, screenplay and the story with so many factors that were so very vital when "T K A M" was released and to have those very points of greatness just as fresh today as it was over 50 years ago. This DVD has an important place in my library that I hope will pass on to my children and grandchildren.
