I'm rarely impressed by a soundtrack, but when the movie came out, and I went to see it the first weekend, I remembered the music as vivid as anything else. While a couple of the tracks are agitating or festive, the main theme of the composition is both lilting and haunting. Each time I listen, it draws me into the serenity of the backdrop for this very emotional film. The rise and fall Mr Jarre creates in the melody line remains so enchanting that the score paints the jungle as a character in and of itself. Much of what we hear was composed and recorded before shooting ever began, as if the music needed to be as eternal and independant as the landscape it was to represent. Its the song of the rainforest, and the river which refused to get caught up into the cast's frantic personal lives. As you listen, it beckons you to abandon your stress and drift down a tranquil stream underneath a tropical canopy. I selected several tracks for myself to lul me to sleep on more than one occasion.Read full review
Very good soundtrack by Maurice Jarre. Unique blend of orchestral and synthesized music. Unique and high quality.

I love the opening theme, and how it reminds me of places that still have no strife and are deep withing the forrest of southamerica
