It was a great Cd, Liked every music! And it is a beautiful Cd, came a nice "cd book", and a very nice case.
I wanted this album as I like the Killers and I have all the other albums by them. It's a very good album.
In fact, it's a great album. Remember that it's a compilation of The Killers B-Sides and Rarities, including some new tracks as "Tranquilize feat. Lou Reed", which is one of the most beautiful songs I've heard for years sice album got out. Also includes covers of Joy Division's "Shadowplay", Dire Strais' "Romeo And Juliet" and Kenny Rogers' "Ruby, Don't Take Your Love To Town"; Also icluding "Move Away" from Spider-Man 3 and both "Glamorous Indie Rock And Roll" from Hot Fuss UK edition (with additional backvocals) and "Change Your Mind" from Europe and US Hot Fuss edition. A Must-Have for The Killers Fans!
I'm a long-time Killers fan, so I was pretty excited when Sawdust was announced. I can't say I've been disappointed, but it must be stressed that this is not a traditional album. It's a collection of random Killers output, some songs brand new to my ears and some, (such as 'Indie Rock and Roll'), so close to the original that I felt a little cheated. It covers the breadth of the last 2 albums, creating a musical experience that's a combination of them both, (though if pushed I'd say it's a little closer to the folksy nature of Sam's Town). At 18, (and a half), songs you can't concentrate too hard on it, there's an inevitable dip in the middle that's partially due to the familiar songs and partially due to the sheer length of the thing. There are also some real gems to grab the attention though; Sweet Talk is a trancey joy and the remix of Sam's Town is something really special. The cover inside the case reads, 'dedicated to our fans', and that sums it up really. If you're looking to get into The Killers I'd suggest you start with one of their other albums, but for existing fans Sawdust is a treat.Read full review
I purchased this album recently thinking it was a great edition to my Killers collection, how wrong could I be. Hot Fuss their 1st album is by far their best release, and Sams Town is a good 2nd album. Sawdust basically consists of both these albums and remixed versions with a few extra tracks thrown in for good measure. Only recommend if a BIG Killers fan, but best bet would be to purchase their first & second albums as these cover 90% of what on Sawdust. Hope this review assists you in making the best of your purchase.
