Nice to have some spanish somewhat educational DVDs for my kids to watch, but I still can't quite get over how sexist the hispanic culture is. I'm a christian hispanic and worry about having my daughter and son exposed to that kind of thinking. I've seen the Cantinflas DVDs with them and think some of the shows have offensive sexist parts that I choose not to let my kids watch, while others pass, with some just on boarder line. I figure when you teach spanish, culture should be part of it also. I explain to my kids the differences of their culture heritage and teach them how to pick and choose what's apporipate and good from both and leave the rest. Not every part of spanish culture is offensive and sexist. I make it a point to give a more balance view of the spanish culture by exposing them to other parts that are more honerable like the stories of Zorro, and our strong Christian ties and commitments. I know it seems contradictive, but I show them that the spanish culture is made up of many countries with individuals some more honerable than others. The poor "drunk" Cantinfla isn't flattering when trying to share my spanish heritage with my kids. Leave out the drunk and over exposed boobies and it would be perfect. To sum it up good quality, funny and could be used as educational, with some wisdom in how to shuffle through the offensive and still get good out of it. Great opportunity to explain to kids the differences in cultures. My favorite part is Cantinflas jokes, an extra benefits to teaching the language with it's play on words.Read full review
