The advice in this book is practical and timeless. I am new to gardening and food preservation, and this book gave me step-by-step instructions for all facets of food preservation - canning, drying, freezing, and using a root cellar, which our old house is lucky enough to have in the basement. Even if you don't grow your own, this is a great resource for taking advantage of the summer farmer's markets and lower prices, not to mention the satisfaction of taking down a jar of peaches you put up in August to use in February :-) So much better than store-bought cans. Definitely a great resource for both new and experienced cooks.
Great resource for everything you need to know about independent living. Canning, composting, drying eatables, gardening, includes recipes, collecting water, and living off the land ideas. I loved it. Glad I purchased it.

I already owned this book and needed a copy for my daughter. I use it so much I wouldn't give her mine. Found great price and value.

It's very informative. I like it very much. It has a lot of great ideas for preserving your home grown harvest without having it to be store bought with harmful preservatives. It promotes the well being for everyone in your family. It's so important now a days to keep your family as safe as possible. I'm going to learn as much as I can from this book.

I was interested in the ways they use to do things is why I purchased it and it gave me all the information I wanted and more. I was pleased with the purchase of this item and would recommend that if your wanting this type of information you should purchase one as well.
