Purchased this unused. Great amplifier in excellent condition as it is 30 years old but like new. Ran distortion, frequency response, residual noise measurements on both channels and they were still in specification !! Replaced all electroylic capactors as a precaution due to age (leakage current and because I had not reformed them correctly) and re-ran all tests afterwards with 50W in to resistive loads. Great amplifier - hopefully it will last a long time now. Finally, I measured all caps that were removed and they still their capcitance values were still in original limits. Capacitors set cost me around $70 from Mouser (good caps) and was about 2 hrs worth of work.

I’ve owned these two units, since they came out. I still use them and never had any thoughts of replacing them. I have the old surround sound system that can still blow the doors off of many new systems for sure. The original cost I paid for these two components was just under $7000.00 that’s big bucks for around the yr 1992

Have always had Sony receivers; not ES but near topline products. Hooked up the N9000ES along with a TA-E9000ES pre-amp and difference in sound quality was instantly noticeable--more presence, clearer and terrific separation. I feel it was a good choice.
