I bought this Used PL210 for my wife for a Valentines gift. We were on an outing so she tried to use it. apparently the battery wasnt charged and it shut off with the lens open. I had tried to charge the battery but it didnt take.Being irritated, I threw the battery away. So I ordered two batteries and external charger of Ebay. The battery number is BP85A It was here in 3 days. The new battery came in fully charged. I installed it and now it works fine. It's nice to have two batteries so I occasionally will swap them out for her and put the used one on the charger. Yes it is very nice to have the external battery charger. She doesn't really use it enough to run the battery down though. She is not real tech savvy especially with cameras, so I thought this might be a good simple camera for her. So far as I sneak an occasional peek at the shots she has taken, It is a huge improvement in picture quality over the GE camera she was using. Yes I bought her a GE camera and had huge guilt pangs over it. Now I feel as though I have made amends for that. I haven't personally used it enough to tell you about best settings and all that. She is strictly Point and Shoot and this does GREAT!! '6 months later'. I have used this camera myself a couple of times, and I am very impressed at how simple it is to use. It readily focusses on the subject and the flash gives nice illumination.Colors are nice and warm. It is more compact than my Nikon S8100 that has the same specs but only 12 megapixels. (But I'm not trading her) The lens is fairly wide angle for group pictures or scenery. Having to use the adapter for the micro SD card is a little of a detractor, but they at least now have fairly large capacity. Using the USB cable to download pictures works well. AS WITH ANY CAMERA, be careful not to hit the power button while the lens is obstructed, as in a camera case. And don't use a case with a magnetic clasp. Magnets can damage digital devices.Oh yeah, ALSO install the wriststrap immediatly and use it, so as not to drop your camera. They don't like that.Read full review
The Samsung PL210 has many features of more expensive camers. I chose the camera because it has a wide angle lens that's not too wide and it is slimmer than the Nikon, Canon, and Sony cameras with similar features --- it easily fits into my pocket. The biggest downside to the camera which would make me avoid it in the future is the picture resolution is rather poor in indoor lighting. After I bought the camera on eBay at a very good price I went into a box store and tried to focus a number of similar cameras including the PL210 and the PL210 was almost clueless in getting a decent focus ---- all the other cameras did a very good job of doing so. The other minor issue is the use of the micro SD card --- the larger SD card is much more convenient to use. The programming is ez to use compared to some other cameras which is nice. If most or all of your pictures are outdoors this camera is a very good choice.Read full review
My recent purchase of the Samsung PL210 was to replace the same thing purchased over a year ago. Turns out that I had a battery charger problem and nothing wrong with the camera itself. Now I have two working cameras.... no problem. I use this camera only for photos, no videos. The results I get are great. With other brands of cameras I wind up with photos that I'm discouraged with. The moment is now lost for a re-do. I don't believe I've had those mishaps with this camera. Every image appears to be clear and non-blurry. It is light, so I can carry for a long period of time. The days of going to the zoo with the kids and a three pound camera are gone. No more dead shoulders at the end of the day. The screen is large enough that I can view it easily. The zoom feature is Awesome! The recovery time inbetween photos is somewhat short, so I enjoy that as well. Again, I use this camera only for photos. It has a lot of "other" features that I do not use. For taking photos, I think a lot of this camera. The question is asked if I would recomend to a friend? My answer is: I will and I have a few times.Read full review
I bought this camera to help me take close up photos of items. The 10x optical zoom was great value for me and allows me to zoom right in. I liked the big screen to view the image. My last digital camera was a Pentax Optio from 2003 and so I felt this was a major leap forward for me. I use a small tripod with the camera and a good thing was that even with the tripod attached there is still access to the battery and micro SD card should you need to get at them. I think you save a bit of money not buying a true top tier camera brand name but I am very happy with the Samsung. The price seemed to be cheaper than the name brands for similar features.
Excellent quality pictures. Have nice features, and compact size. The zooming range is so great, allow you to get a clear shot. this is a very good model to have it.
