The enchanting portrayal of Cinderella as enacted by Ms. Warren gave me an idealized representation of what I would want for a lifelong mate. I was eleven years old at the time. My wife was one. She and I met when I was thirtytwo and I proposed to her on the first date. Numerous relationships came before but none so captured the innocent honesty and enrapturing joy as portrayed by the main characture as my bride. We've been married now for twentyeight years and have slain many dragons along the way. My bride has always seen me as her prince charming which gave me incentive to live up to the role. Chilvary and graciousness never really go out of style, do they.

For those of you who wonder why Lesley Ann Warren always plays a tramp & if she has EVER played any role that didn't portray her as so, hold on to your hats! Back when she was quite young, she played the title role in Rogers & Hammerstein's Cinderella! She even sang! This is the middle of 3 TV versions of this musical adaptation of the real Cinderella story. The 2 surrounding it, featured women known for their singing, Julie Andrews(1957) & Brandi(1997). The story is as we've been accustomed to without the Disneyesque animals. It is a musical & there are many wonderful songs that go very well in telling the story. Some are endearing & others quite comical. For a TV movie shot entirely on a sound stage, the sets are quite lavish & beautiful as are the costumes. The cast is very good! Lesley Ann was only 19 when she made this & she is absolutely beautiful! Besides Warren, the cast gets a shot of star power from veteran actor Walter Pidgeon as the King & Ginger Rogers as the Queen, 1955 Best Supporting Actress winner Jo Van Fleet (East Of Eden) plays the wicked stepmother & a young version of long time actress Pat Carroll plays one of the wicked stepsisters. The Prince is played by newcomer Stuart Damon who most soap opera lovers will know now as Dr Alan Quartermaine from "Port Charles" & "General Hospital." This a truly magical version of the Cinderella story & a sure hit for the whole family!Read full review

I have wanted this movie for such a long time. I loved it the first time I saw it on TV way back in 1965 and would watch it every year it was showed. The songs are just wonderful, you can't beat Rodgers and Hammerstein's when it comes to classic songs. Yes this version of the fairy tale is less glamorous then the newish version with Brandy as the starring role, but the story can stand all on it's own with the basic scenery. When I saw this was available on DVD I jumped at the chance to purchase it. It's a wonderful as I remembered it. If you love musicals, this would be a great addition to your collection.
Movie picture quality is very grainy and blurry. I really like the movie though. They should have enhanced the picture quality.
