Went to the Rit website to follow use instructions. I used the stove-top method. Had an older long, dark brown skirt to bump up the color on and 1 package and 1 gallon of water in the stove pot worked just great. Very happy with the result. I did leave it in the dye bath the maximum time allotted.

My wife hated the tan shoes I bought so I dyed them dark brown. Worked great.

If you keep the proportions and use it on the fabric they tell you, it works very well. I used it in polyester and it didn't get dark, but it is not supposed to work with polyester.
