Risk is a great game for all ages. I have been playing it for years. The object of the game is to conquer the world... (not the real world, okay!) While trying to do so, you have to protect your territories from your opponents (in my case, usually siblings!). Try to get smaller continents and hold onto those while everyone is fighting each other for Asia! That usually seems to work best in our games. (Although, I rarely get the smaller countries because my brother beats me to them!) All in all, a fun game! I highly recommend!
Favorite board game of my childhood - still fun playing 20 years later.

Risk is a classic game, and almost everyone knows the version where you try to take over the world. Good, if you have a TON of time. What makes this version better is that it has variations in the rules and cards where everyone takes 4 mission cards and tries to accomplish them. First person to accomplish their missions (ie control 2 continents in this turn, conquer 1 territory across water, etc.) wins. Faster, more fun, and not as many fights break out between more sensitive players who get stomped on in the classic variation.
great game and new!
