This is the second Corvette clock I've upgraded with a kit from this supplier. The hardest part of the installation is installing the spring clips that retain the movement. It takes a lot of force and I'm always worried about breaking the plastic movement. I got it done though and the clock keeps perfect time. I also painted the faded needles while I had them off and the clock looks as great as it works now. Note that this quartz conversion has a smooth needle sweep rather than the ratcheting action of the original movement. A very subtle difference, but if you are at a Corvette show you might lose some judging points for that. The original movements are old school and required an annual service, and cost hundreds of dollars to replace. Mine had never been out since the car was built in 1965.Read full review

This is a good product, but it takes time and skill to do the job right. The hardest part of the conversion is getting the slip clutch adjusted. This took several tries to get it to work right. TIP. When testing do not rebuild the entire clock. Just put the hands on the movement without the face and casing. When the movement seems to be working correctly, test for a couple of days, then reassemble and install.

The original clock in our 1966 Pontiac stopped working years ago. There are a few companies that repair and restore old auto clocks, but if you want a permanent solution then this quartz conversion will do the trick. It's reliable, keeps perfect time and does not use a lot of power so it doesn't drain the battery. Purists will comment on the second hand not "ticking" like the original movement. It instead sweeps the dial in a continuous motion. I'm OK with this, given the fact that I will not have to repair or adjust the original mechanism that can fail again after an expensive restoration. This conversion requires some skill to complete, but it's not that difficult If you are not confident that you can do it, then simply send it to the same company and they will do it for you at a reasonable price. Either way, you will have a dash clock that performs like new and will last for years to come.Read full review

Installed on 67 Corvette. Worked on watch repair/refurb years ago... the stock corvette (or other electo/mechanical units) are crap!! The quartz replacement installed easy...keeps perfect time... I love it. If you use your car at all... come into the 21st. century. If your are bound to the NCRS., and can't switch.....to bad!!!

Old mechanical clocks don't last. Even the NOS stuff. I blasted $160 on an NOS clock that lasted two weeks. Now, I bought one of these and feel confident that it will last. This was pretty easy to follow with the dvd on while I was assembling the new clock. I did one of these years ago in my old z-28. It still works!
