Who is Brandon Alvarado? He's like Mark Twain, just without the moustache. He could be the love child of David Sedaris and Sylvia Plath (if only Sedaris wasn't gay and Plath wasn't dead). Please Fall in Love with Me (And Other High School Wishes) is bursting with humor and confessional candor as Alvarado ruminates about growing up gay in a homo (that is, homogeneously straight, or seemingly so) community. Alternatingly, and often simultaneously, uproarious and affecting, Alvarado's vignettes welcome you into his anxious tween and teen years as he journals in American Idol and Twilight tebooks, sops around in chat rooms, and ruminates about life as an other in a suburban upper-middle class town. So who is Brandon Alvarado? It turns out that he's still trying to figure that out, too, and he invites you to come along with him on his journey.
Brandon is a student who has written for websites such as The Huffington Post and TeenInk. Besides writing and self-publishing his first book, he is an aspiring stand-up comedian and has performed locally. He currently lives in Northern New Jersey, and he will be attending college in New York City starting in the Fall of 2015. You can follow Brandon on his Twitter and Instagram @Brandon_Alv.
