I was looking for some kind of recorder for my son to use at school, and the digitals are all too pricy for something he may or not find useful. This has the advantage of taking full size cassettes. It actually makes very clear recordings, though the speaker (I bought a used machine, so I don't know if this is inherent or just age) have a lot of static. This model takes earphones/earbuds and the sound through them is quite good. I recorded in my car while I sung to the radio, and it did as well as any portable recorder with built-in mic I've ever used except for a bit more machine noise due to the size and the motor and mic being so close.
Hate this, way to big for my little tapes. This is just a Walkman

It works fine but the buttons are laid out differently from the one I bought it to replace. I found a different model at Radio Shack that has the buttons in nearly the same places as on the one I broke, and I'm using that one. The Panasonic is a reserve.
was a little disappointed. The produce came without a tape. When I brought a tape it would not record or play
