This is my third ZS series camera, so I'm familiar with many of the features. I've only had the ZS50 for a few weeks, but I've used it enough to know that it's going to be a great camera for me. I do a lot of camping and hiking, so the superzoom (30x) is great for wildlife shots. The electronic view finder, which can be set to automatically activate when you put it to your eye, is great for those bright sunny days when the rear LCD panel gets washed out. Using the view finder and the image stabilization feature helps steady the camera for long zoom shots. The programmable control ring is very handy to, for example, change shutter speed or aperture when in those preferred modes. Great camera!

This camera is almost nonfunctional in the amount of time it takes to recover from each photograph. The multiple shots has to be turned off; the HDR has to be turned off; and the macro lens works about 50% of the time. Normally Lumix makes outstanding products--and the images in this camera ARE great. But the sacrifice of missing so many good shots because the camera continually locks up and crashes is not worth it. I've been tempted more times than I can count to smash this camera up into bits and send it to Panasonic as the review..... Don't buy. This is no reflection on the dealer. The camera came in quick order and was in perfect condition. It's just a really bad camera.

This camera is compact enough to fit in your pocket or small pocket of your bag. This is a big plus for me because I use the camera to document my work with before, after, and in-progress photos of installations. Has great image quality, and performs well indoors and in low light due to it's large aperture lens, impressive optical zoom, and in-camera digital processing features. I really like and use the special automatic scene options including panoramic scene, auto adjust for high contrast, night shots. The camera also does great HD videos. The menu system is easy to follow and intuitive. I learned how to use this camera in a very short amount of time without needing to study the manual. Overall a great value. One feature I am still getting used to is the auto-viewfinder setting that shuts down the LCD display when the camera thinks you are looking through the view finder. I often find the LCD going blank when I don't expect it because my finger shades the viewfinder.Read full review

I bought thie ZS50 so I could have a pocket size camera with a view finder and it is everything I wanted plus more. It does so many things that a manual close at hand is necessary for a while. In particular I like the panorama mode and the wifi for downloading pictures. My only complaint is that it doesn't come with software for processing Raw images. I found a free Windows program on the net but Mac wants to charge me for the iPad program. A newer model is available so the discounts on this version makes it even more attractive.

This camera is a replacement for my Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS30, which was "acquired" by my daughter-in-law after borrowing it for a trip to Germany. I willingly allowed her to have the camera, since I had already read reviews on the ZS50 by CameraLabs, and was blown away by the improvements. The two most significant improvements for my photography experience, are: 1. The 30X optical zoom, and 2. The viewfinder, which really simplifies taking photos in bright sunlight. The camera is totally user friendly and was provided in a timely manner, at a very fair price. Highly recommend.
