Hi!---I bought this CD because of the Bon Jovi song on it with Sam (Bon Jovi is my favorite singer/songwriter) but all the songs were OK. This CD also had a much better price here on E-Bay than I've seen in stores or CD sites on the internet. I may not get the chance to write a review on other purchases so would like to point out the only so-so experience I've had so far --- I'd been looking for a CD with Richie Sambora singing "I'll Be There For You", which is the tie-in here since I like Richie's singing on this song better than Jon's, and bid on Richie's Live From London 2 CD set. My wife was actually doing the bidding & it was fun to watch her as she was not about to let anyone win it over her! Good thing I enjoyed her bidding because the 2 CD set was surely not worth what she paid for it --- all you could basically hear was the audience! I have yet to find a CD or DVD with Richie singing Bon Jovi songs but I think I now have one coming. Thanks for the interesting things I've been finding on E-Bay & all the different Bon Jovi music that I can't find anywhere else --- all from the comfort of home! Thanks again! Darrell Hicks :) Have a better than great day! :)Read full review
Sam Moore is a real classic. One of the true classics and truly classy gentlemen. From my time, he brings back memories of songs that you can actually hear the words to. No calling anybody disgusting names, no bigotry, no racism - just good old enjoyable music. This CD is a great one to pop in your car stereo and drive down the road and just enjoy. I would like to hear more from Calloway Coster (she was his singing partner on the Today Show). My guess is that she is a shining little star ready to burst like the fireworks on the 4th of July.
Too many guests, not enough Sam. Like many other cds by aging artists, this one suffers from too many cooks in the kitchen. Just hearing Sam's unmistakable voice would have been more than enough. I added a star due to the strength of the last ever recording of the late great Billy Preston on "You Are So Beautiful." I took a star away because Sam's wife has written the most annoying liner notes I have ever read.
Good rockin' soulful lp. Sam doesn't shy away from the direct soul shoutin' style he's famous for. A series of excellent duets with a variety of guest artists. Good solid production from Randy Jackson. Moving and excellent version with Billy Preston of "You are so Beautiful" A good addition for anyone that digs good solid soul and R&B records.
Always enjoyed Sam Moore when with Sam and Dave. He still has the pipes, and joins with several other gifted singers on this CD. Soul-Blues_and bluesy renditions of country. Produced well, and all sounded as if they really wanted to be there. Glad I made the purchase.
