As great as this album is, it sometimes gets overlooked. Despite including some of great songs, it isn't as popular these days as "At Folsom Prison", or any Sun output. I've owned it for quite a long time, but I decided to give it another listen after "Walk The Line" came out, because in that movie, Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon did a wonderful job of the Cash version of Bob Dylan's "It Ain't Me Babe" and Witherspoon went solo on "Wildwood Flower", the Carter Family standard that Johnny presents here. Not to be forgotten is the classic "Long Black Veil", an incredible story of love and death, and another Dylan song, "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right". Later on, Cash would record that music again with different lyrics, becoming the more well known hit, "Understand Your Man". Start to finish, it is worth the listen. The 2002 Re-issue has some cool bonus tracks, as well as awesome liner notes that make a great read-a-long, detailing way more than I could here. Enjoy!Read full review
