It presents itself in a "documentary style" but it is not a documentary, but is more entertaining than most reality tv shows or mini series on tv. The show's disclaimer states that it does not to take sides regarding the apocalyptic prophecies. In the introduction of each episode, the narrator states, "We will neither refute, nor endorse, these theories; merely, present the evidence." The show may claim that the Mayan Long Count calendar predicts the end of the world for December 21, 2012 while in reality it marks the first day of the 14th b'ak'tun era, but since we don't have any understanding of what the Maya thought of period endings we can only wait and see. Pay close attention to the various prophecies of Chilam Balam and Isaac Newton... key dates will be 2033, and 2053 and 2060.
