This is the most elegant "coffee table" book I have ever seen!! When she does something, she really does it right! Let me clarify......I bought the book that was the limited edition. There were only 500 made. Mine it #156, and, yes, she signed it! "How Lucky Can You Get?" I feel it is well worth her $500.00 asking price. It is full of wonderful photos, and you sure see how the "other half" lives! Did you know that the flowers outside of each window, matches the colors of the interior room to which they are adjacent? Amazing!! You know how we have a collection of something laying around on a table or such? Well, she opens shops throughout her home as if you were out for the shopping! She has a literal doll store with more rare dolls than you can imagine! And ohhhhhh, the Tiffany lamps! So lovely!! You can see the ocean, clearly. There are flowers all over....and LIVE chickens that lay blue eggs. For her wedding dinner, she served baby chicks as her main entree. THAT, incidently, is the only thing about Babs that I really felt bad about! I would have asked for a grilled cheese!! Included with the book is a CD tour backed with music she availed us. At the end we see her sitting in her back yard, smelling one of her many roses. It is an amazing book, and those visiting my house have not quibbled to the fact that the book costs in excess of $500.00. They seem to agree it was worth every cent! There is much more included than I have mentioned. Each time I look thru the book, I find something new. Today, in Michigan, we were subjected to the "Blizzard of 2011". What a wonderful day to pick up Barbra's book, play the CD and re-read it for about the 5th time!! Yes, I totally recommend it. Thankfully, since the 500 are probably pretty much gone, there is the regular publication for about $50.00 available at Ebay, Amazon and the regular book stores probably. GO FOR IT!!! This book was VERY interesting from architectural, design, and creative perspective PLUS it was insightful into the private life of Barbara Streisand. The photographs are rich, the descriptions thorough, the storyline compelling. We enjoyed the book so much that we purchased 3 more copies as gifts for friends who are designers!

LOVE this book. Beautiful photographs and great size for my coffee table. It doesn't hurt that I am a Barbara fan but this book would be a good design book for those that aren't. There are even fold out pages so you can see the front and back of the house in it's entirety. I am a designer and I really enjoyed seeing the spaces each dedicated to a different period in time.

Well I must open this review by saying "She is the greatest Star by Far". Ms. Streisand has brought her perfectionist tendencies into the literary world. The result is a book that documents her dedication to the work process and how it is true that love is indeed in the details. She demonstrates her passion for design and her desire to examine the creative process and how to manage others in your journey. The book is chopped full of gorgeous pictures and details of how each nail, bolt and color were examined before being placed and even how those choices were examined when in place and didn't work. I would recommend this book for anyone who wants to be caught up in rapture by the design process or wants a glimpse into the creative process of a genius.
This is a fantastic book. I LOVE Barbra Streisand and I even have a little Coton de Tulear like she has... My Brena . Now, all I need is the HOUSE! You can sit for hours reading and enjoying the text and picture tour. I so loved the book I bought another one for my sister. I think that anyone would enjoy reading this and realize that the Lady can do a lot more than sing her heart out...she can turn a little run down house into a darling cottage retreat and the main home into the comfort zone anyone would love to come home to. It is to die for....not to mention their koi ponds, flower gardens, little shop's of dolls, costumes, china.....etc.etc.etc...What a gal and her husband worked hard at it as well. Thank you for the eye candy!
