The 2 disk cd is wonderful if you listen to how tight the band and singer played together. They were in sinc the whole time and I feel that there was somthing else there than just another money making record between two bands with strong dope habits. There was music. We seldom see it now adays. Not becouse it isen't there , but becouse the music industry is changing. no more Kurt Cobain, pearl jam just got out of the coorperate wing. lets see what happens and don't forget to appreciate colaberations like mother love bone. Does not happen every day, or even every 10 years! now it is all about that rap shit!
This is one of grunges foundation albums not to be compared to later artists and their contributions to the genre. Mother Love Bone have provided the listener with a wide range of hooks and tempos to get lost in. Whilst the production can be considered to be raw at times, this is the essence of what the genre is about, a turning away from over produced albums that can never be replicated in concert. Stand out tracks on the album include : the original grunge anthem and album tittle track Stardog Champion, The hard rocking Holy Roller and the highly emotive Crown of Thorns. Whilst these are the stand out tracks they are still only elements of a greater whole.Unlike many albums this is a complete album with no fill in tracks to make up the numbers. Many believe the death of Andy Wood provides this album with its status. The reality is a great sadness with Andy leaving the world only just starting his music journey. What he provides in this album is a window to a story that will forever will remain untold. This is a fantastic album leaving you wanting more. The tragedy is that there will never be more.Read full review
Mother Love Bone was one of the best bands from Seattle ever!! You like Pearl Jam, you'll love M.L.B.!! Same band different singer, much different. Try them out.

This CD is simply excellent. It put Seattle on the music scene before other bands like Nirvana & Soundgarden. Andy Wood was a master - a beautiful voice that, like other musical geneiuses, died before his time. The remaining members of the band knew that without Andy Wood, Mother Love Bone could not continue - although their musical presence continued in other bands as grunge bacame cool. This CD represents the full range of Mother Love Bone's potential - it is a fitting testimony of what was, and what could have been had Andy not been taken away so soon. I personally own over 850 CD's - but this CD is my overall favorite - it runs the range from beautiful melodies to gut wrenching guitar riffs - all with one of the best voices to ever be put to music. I would rate it a ten on a scale of one to five. Owning this CD is owning a small piece of rock n' roll history. Andy and the boys were had so much potential ... we are all left to wonder what could have been - and to enjoy what was. No musical collection is complete without this CD.Read full review
Love this cd. So sad about Andy Wood. Pearl Jam would have never happened, if it wasn't for the tragedy of Andy Wood and Mother Love Bone.
