Clothes Dryers

Tumble Dryers

Tumble dryers can substantially cut down on the amount of time it can take to dry clothes, especially when the weather is unpredictable, preventing you to be able to hang your washing outside to dry. If you have lots of washing loads to do each week, or if you have little space to hang clothes to dry, then a good tumble dryer is a great time saver. They give you softer clothes and remove many of the creases caused by washing. They come in different sizes so you are sure to find one for the space you have.

All the big name brands, including Hotpoint, Bosch, Indesit, Miele, Hoover, Samsung, Zanussi, AEG and LG, are known for the quality of their tumble dryers.

Tumble Dryer Types and Features

Vented tumble dryers take the hot, damp air out from the back of the machine, filtering it outside via a pipe, which needs to run through an open window or external vent. Condenser dryers extract the water into a container, which needs to be emptied regularly. Heat pump dryers use heat pump technology drying clothes at a lower temperature and use less electricity.

Tumble dryers have a variety of heat settings for the different fabrics that need drying. They can work out the most efficient drying cycle for the load, with a selection of different settings so you can decide how dry you want your washing to be. Iron dry leaves them slightly damp to make ironing easier while cupboard dry allows you to put clothes on straight from the dryer.

Tumble dryers have heat sensors to be able to detect when the load is dry, while some also have a timer that allows you to choose how long your tumble dryer should run for. Remember to consider the size of your washing loads as a small drum size won't take a large load. Other features can include child locks, time remaining displays, delayed start times, alarm for when the cycle is complete, warning light for when the filter or water container needs emptying.
