Not better than I expected, because, although packaging and appearance were just fine, show quality was fair to horrible. I did expect that because of show age and apparent inability to locate all 44 episodes, but it seemed that early fade-outs at beginning and end of some shows seemed to be in the engineering of the transfers. However, even with drawbacks in quality, these shows are a real treat, and have many actors in their very early roles. Great fun.

Very interesting series providing insight into medical practice (and society) in the 1950's. Rather than focusing on characters as we see in current medical dramas, this series features stories about a particular disease or problem, and its handling with the best they had to offer at that time. Each episode is a standalone story -- a father struck by polio who struggles with his confinement to an "iron lung", a young boy with hemophilia living a tentative life, a tuberculosis patient whose only hope is a long stay in a sanitarium, even an episode dealing with response to a nuclear attack. The flavor is realistic, engaging, informative. This is a time-capsule worth watching!

It was a wonderful look back at medicine 60 years ago. I learned a few things along with watching how diseases were handled back then. Plus it was a fun way to see future stars before they became famous.
