PROS: This unit does a fairly good job overall. Nice, large screen, and well laid-out array. Able to pronounce most streets with accuracy. Menu options are among the easiest to use that I've seen in most GPS units. Nice that it displays mocked highway signs for reference when making lane and direction changes. "One Touch" options are a breeze to set up, and great for commonly used locations. CONS: Like many others, if you are suddenly slightly off course, but parallel to the road you were on, it takes a bit of time to synch/adjust. This is not enough to worry about though, and rarely happens. Voice directions are slightly fuzzy/muffled compared to the Garmin units. If you're like me and wear reading glasses, then those little mock signs are too hard to read while driving. Map updates are available, but EXPENSIVE! At $50 a pop, most users will likely just take their chances that they unit will give them a general idea of where to go. BOTTOM LINE: Although the unit is a bit older, it still does a good job for what it's been built for. Clean display, and accuracy is what counts, and this unit does a great job of it!Read full review
Every handheld GPS I own is a Magellan and they have never failed over land or water. Stuck with brand for vehicle GPS and find these units just as dependable. The mounts hold the unit to the windshield very securely with no vibration. The unit does not have bells and whistles such as MP3/JPEG players, BUT, I did not buy it for that. What is does have that matters is lifetime free map updates. Try that with your MP3 playing unit! I was already familiar with the Magellan website and the expanded GPS section is very user-friendly. The unit itself is intuitive and can boast of a short learning curve. The points of interest are varied and many. I just do not believe you can do any better than this unit for value, performance, and dependability.
Bought this to find places on my own besides googling directions. Being kind of old fashioned, I think this item was up to my speed and easy to understand. I love it and purchased another gps for my dad. I like the ease of use but I disliked that it couldn't pick up a local area without me having to enter the full address. I can't compare it to others because this is my first one but, I'm loving it thus far.
i bought this unit from a local best buy store...the reason i gave it a below average rating is because about two weeks after i purchased it the thing froze up and wouldnt respond...the touch screen and the menu keys were rendered useless..it wouldnt even reset after powering down then back up...the problem occurred when i tried programming the addresses with the one touch feature...this is when the unit stopped functioning...i took it back to best buy for another one...i havent unboxed the new one yet...but when i do i think ill refrain from using the one touch feature again...if this one goes too...then im just gonna get a garmin one..
I bought this GPS and got a TERRIFIC deal!! I bought it because i recently moved to a new city and needed it to get around. It is very easy to use and has a great display. Perfect size screen as well!
