This is the second C1 I have owned. The camera is truly an excellent point and shoot system. Even though there is no exposure control, the results are often much better than what was expected at the moment of shooting the picture. I credit Leica's many years of experience and excellent lens quality in providing high quality automatic control. Several speeds and types of color film, from high speed Fuji, to lower speed Kodak and generic brands have been used with good results. I have also used high speed black and white film all with excellent results indoors and outdoors. I have also tested the camera in low light, and the flash works well. I have had a little problem with red-eye reduction, but did not follow the instructions of staying back at least 3 feet from the subject. I did find that the camera seemed to give far better results with the Fuji 400 or 800 film. Having owned a previous model, it was apparent this was not a camera for all uses. It has a medium to slow zoom feature, and does not auto-correct for marginal film quality. It is always better to use good quality and fresh film with this camera, as with any other. The exposures and image clarity are excellent. The camera is ergonomic and once you learn where the controls are, and the shutter, it is easy to use. It does take some getting used to if you are accustomed to having a larger or more prominent shutter release. The Vario-Elmar lens is always excellent, and makes such a difference in photo quality. It was surprising to read that a few people had negative experiences, or did not believe the camera rise to Leica's usual high quality and ease of use, but I found it to be very good, and a high step above regular point and shoot film cameras that I had used in the past, including many SLR's. For a person who does not want a highly technical camera, this is the way to start. Even though the camera is made in Japan to Leica's specifications, the quality of the workmanship is very good as well. The aluminum case is strong, but not waterproof. However, I have shot pictures in cold, wet, climates with good results. High recommended for a simple, easy to use camera.Read full review

Excellent 35mm point-and-shoot. Solid, however a bit bulky for this type of camera. Pictures turned out great, camera is fully functional, after battery replacement.
Excellent compact 35 mm camera. Sleek design. Great for traveling, which is what I bought it for. I had been wanting a Leica for some time and this was a great choice for the money.
